There's a serious chance of hurting yourself trying to install the rubber pad onto the sharp metal bracket, especially since the part of the pad that goes under the bracket is so much wider than the actual opening...
If you bought the IDEX upgrade like me, both the "rr_toolhead_vc4_back_idex_t0" and the "rr_toolhead_vc4_back_idex_t1" from that toolhead kit bag should be used.
The part from the standard Vcore 4 toolhead kit bag is different.

It's a real chore trying to get those lock nuts in place while tightening the M4 screw from the back.
