Just for the record... with my V-Core 3 400 and 3mm acrylic panels, I've had to go to with 200N gas struts for the enclosure lid as the RR supplied 100N ones were far too feeble, 150N got me closer but still no cigar. 200N means the lid stays firmly shut and remains open on its own when lifted up.
I've ended up with the distance from the bottom frame rail to the centre of the bottom ball pivot at 45mm, the top 40mm from the rear end of the 3030 rail to the centre of the ball pivot. I'm quoting distance to the centre of the balls as the mounting bracket size is not consistent between different gas struts.
Hope this helps anyone else going down this route.
Put a thin rod (a 3mm allen key is ideal) through the bottom hole in the mounting plate at 45 degrees. Slide on the shims, idler and spacers in the correct order and then pull down the rod so the top is flush with the top of the stack and rotate into a vertical position. Then push the M5 bolt down into the stack while withdrawing the guide rod.
It’s easier to put the T-Nut loosely on the horizontal M6x12, fit the idler to the frame and then slide in the T-Nuts in for the countersunk screws.
