What is the acceptable margin of deviation for these diagonal measurements on the 500*500? I’ve assembled, measured disassembled squared, tightened a few times and cant get below 1.5mm deviation between the two.

How tight is too tight?
The M5 x 12mm will work just fine if you use a decent power magnet to pull the nut to the top of the extrusion while tigntening down the bolt.
