There are no endstops on the carrier (holes that match the plugs removed from the rails would be neat) so I taped the carriage to the mount with electrical tape to stop it falling off while I wait for the IDEX kit.
There are two M6x12 with washers here on recent machines and 2 M6x16s to replace them.
A small flat blade screwdriver is handy to push and pull the belt rhrough this confined space. I found it impossible with fingers alone.
It's a lot easier without the bed plate in the way, and safer for the bed plate.
The bubble bags that the steel base plates came in make a great working surface for this - no worries about scratching the plate and those dog points don't cause any probl;ems or get dinged.
Also wearing disposable gloves prevents finger print smudges on that nice shiny plate.
It is a great deal easier to thread the belt through the tensioners if you temporarily remove them.
