Zip tie trick works perfect, used it on the 3.0 build.

I would recommend adding M3 washers between the screws and the pillow block. This just helps distribute the clamping load better and helps to prevent the screw heads from digging into the pillow block.
Yes, one belt on each side should be thread through at this point.
Upper Belt goes on the top idler for the left side. Lower belt goes on the right side.
Yup, that’s how I did it as well.
This picture correctly has the right xy idler assembly on the right and the left xy idler assembly on the left. This is important for the next step in determining which idler goes on the right and left of the frame.
I agree. I purchased a pack of M6 x 18 washers from Amazon. This makes adjustments to the frame assembly much easier and prevents the heads of the screws from digging into the brackets.
